What is CSIR NET?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) NET (also known as CSIR UGC NET) test to assess applicants’ eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor in India’s universities and colleges. Candidates who pass the CSIR NET test are only eligible to become lecturers in the faculty of Science and Technology.

How many times is CSIR NET Conducted?

CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria 

The following are the fundamental CSIR UGC NET eligibility criteria requirements that applicants must meet:

Candidates must have a BTech/BE/BPharma/MBBS/BS (four years)/Integrated BS-MS/MSc degree with a minimum of 55% for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC (50%) and 50% for SC/ST, Third gender, and PwD. Candidates must be at least 28 years old to apply for JRF. For SC/ST/Third gender/PwD/Females, the upper age restriction may be relaxed by up to 5 years, while for OBCs, it can be relaxed by up to 3 years (Non-Creamy Layer) For the position of Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor, there is no maximum age restriction.

 CSIR NET Application Process

The NTA issued the CSIR NET application form. On the official website, csirnet.nta.nic.in, you may fill out the application form online. Candidates who meet the qualifying requirements may apply to take the test online. Candidates must pay a fee to finish the application procedure. The cost of the application form is INR 1,000 for general candidates, INR 500 for OBC candidates, and INR 250 for SC/ ST candidates. Candidates in the PwD category are not required to pay an application fee.

  • Fill ‘Registration Form’ page. 
  • To register, go to the new registration URL.
  •  Fill out the exam registration form. 
  • Complete the online application form. 
  • Scanned pictures of needed documents should be uploaded. 
  • The application cost may be paid using Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or Wallet. 
  • The confirmation page may be downloaded and saved.

Selection Process for the CSIR UGC NET in 

The selection procedure steps are given below: 

CSIR NET application form: CSIR NET application forms are accessible on the exam’s official website for all interested and qualified candidates.

Admit card for the CSIR National Eligibility Test (NET): Candidates who complete the application form and pay the test fee will get their CSIR UGC NET to admit card. The admission card is available on the exam’s official website.

CSIR NET Test: Candidates must appear for the CSIR UGC NET exam on the specified day and time on the admit card. The CSIR NET takes place twice a year, in June and December.
CSIR NET result: The CSIR NET results have been revealed on the official website. Candidates who pass the NET exam are considered JRF or lecturers.
